A hub of formation to nurture lay leaders for a Renewed Asian Church and Society
Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia (IFFAsia) forms young and lay people of all backgrounds equipping them with the competencies to become initiators and leaders of projects and missions in Church and/or Society by harnessing their spirituality and potential for the common good.
After 10 years of establishment (2006 – 2016), IFFAsia has formed more than 160 young people from 13 countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam.
We are re-defining our program for the school year 2017-2018, to take into consideration reaching out to a wider group of young adults and professionals, to ensure better preparation of young people on the ground before they come to IFFAsia, and supporting the alumni as they return home to help implement their dreams and projects on the ground.
The program in IFFAsia consists of a two semester live-in course and a 2-year internship in projects by participants accompanied by the Institute on their return to their respective countries and organizations.
The 1st semester, from July to November, will focus on core courses, on Human Formation and Mission, common to all. In the 2nd semester, from December to March, participants will have options to choose the specialization track, either in Development Leadership (specializing in Migration, Refugees & Human Trafficking or Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship) or in Pastoral Leadership (specializing in Youth Ministry and Family or The Joy of the Gospel and Evangelization). It integrates the four main axis of formation which includes Human, Social, Spiritual and Pastoral aspects.
The formation in IFFAsia combines studies, field experience, mentoring, team learning and other new technologies. It is transformative, building persons from inside out to become effective leaders to contribute to church and society.
