The Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia, for this School Year 2021, has been very privileged to have Sir Butch give 4 days of session (‘April 22, 29; May 11, 13, 2021) on “Nurturing Multiple Intelligences,” complemented by 3 days of application and group learning. The course aims to help the students to discover and celebrate the diverse ways to manifest intelligence and enable the growth of specific intelligence in people.  It aimed to make the students:
  • Understand the theory on Multiple Intelligence
  • Gain deeper understanding on the various intelligence
  • Realize how to determine individual intelligence
  • Help nurture the development of specific intelligence among the students
“When working with a wide range of people, especially in the mission, it is important to know that individuals also have a wide range of learning styles. Understanding the different learning styles can help us to better assist and communicate with each individual.  If we are hitting a block in communication, try varying our methods and styles of delivery.  The Theory on Multiple Intelligence can guide us in identifying different learning styles and applying different approaches to successfully convey information.” This is a conviction coming from one of the well-loved Resource Person of IFFAsia – Mr. Renato Nayona or popularly called Sir Butch
The students enjoyed the classes a lot as Sir Butch applied the theory on them using interactive activities and different learning styles.  Besides learning about the different Intelligences and Learning Styles, the course also helped them to have a change of perspectives in dealing with others, especially among the youth. As one participant said, “I’ve realized that I’m now more capable of putting myself in the shoes of someone with intelligences different from my own.”
Sir Butch encouraged the student to share their gifts and talents with other and concluded with a story about the Corn Farmer who generously shared his seeds to his neighbors that enabled his farm to produce the best corn harvest.  The story ended with this conclusion: “So is with our lives… Those who want to live meaningfully and well must help enrich the lives of others, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.”
