Young Lives Malaysia held its annual Teens Camp from May 29 to 31, 2026, at APC, Jalan Robertson, Kuala Lumpur, bringing together 24 refugee teenagers from Myanmar, Liberia, and Sudan for a two-and-a-half-day residential programme focused on building the skills and confidence they need to move forward in life.
The camp was open to refugee youth between the ages of 17 and 19, many of whom are at a critical turning point as they consider their options in secondary or higher education or prepare to enter the workforce. Over the course of the weekend, participants took part in sessions covering career pathways, work rights, and critical thinking. A self-discovery exercise using the Johari Window invited teens to reflect on their own strengths and how they present themselves to others. The camp closed with a talent showcase through art, giving participants a chance to express themselves beyond the classroom setting.
Five young volunteers from Young Lives Malaysia’s Facilitator Training programme served as co-facilitators throughout the weekend, bringing a peer-driven dimension to the programme’s activities.
Transport allowance was provided for all participants. Completion of the full programme was required for certification.
